Happ: set up a subscription VPN in a minute
Step-by-step setup of the Happ app on Android and iPhone: adding a subscription, choosing a server, refreshing the list and the usual reasons it "won't connect".
Happ is one of the most convenient clients for a subscription-link VPN. It is free, available on Android, iPhone, Windows and Mac, supports split tunnelling and refreshes the server list on its own. We show the setup with a Surok subscription, but the steps are the same for any Xray-based service.
Step 1. Install Happ
- Android: Google Play or the APK from Happ's official site.
- iPhone and iPad: App Store.
- Windows and Mac: builds on the app's site.
Step 2. Add the subscription
In your Surok account, the "Connect" tab has an "Add to Happ" button: tap it on your phone and the app opens with the link already in place. To do it by hand, tap "+" in the top right of Happ, choose "Add subscription" and paste a link like https://surokvpn.com/s/….
Step 3. Pick a server and turn it on
Servers with flags appear in the list. In Russia choose entries starting with 🇷🇺, for example "🇷🇺 → 🇪🇺 All Europe": that is the Moscow entry, which works on every carrier. Press the big button, wait for "Connected" and open any site.
Step 4. Keep the list fresh
Once an hour Happ re-reads the subscription. If we add a country or change an address, new servers appear without you doing anything. To force a refresh, tap the round arrow next to the subscription name.
Common problems
The list shows Amsterdam, Warsaw, Berlin without the 🇷🇺 flag and nothing works. The subscription was refreshed while another VPN was on, and the server handed out the list for people abroad. Turn off every VPN, refresh the subscription, pick a server with 🇷🇺.
"Connected" but sites don't open. Check on surokvpn.com/ip which address sites see. If it is your own, switch to another server in the list: mobile carriers do not pass every port.
A bank or government site complains about a foreign address. Surok's subscription already sends Russian sites direct. If you switched Happ to your own routing mode, set it back to "subscription rules".
The link won't open on the phone. Make sure the link was copied whole, without a trailing space.
What next
Happ can go on every device; the plan limit counts devices connected at the same time. If you want zero settings, Surok has its own apps for Android, Windows and Mac with one button.
