A personal Telegram proxy from Surok: Telegram works with the VPN switched off
Every Surok subscription now includes a personal proxy for Telegram. One button in the bot, works on phone and desktop with no VPN running. How to get it, what it does and what it doesn't.
For many people in Russia Telegram keeps hanging on "Connecting…" while photos and videos won't load. Keeping a VPN on all day just for one messenger is inconvenient, so we built a personal Telegram proxy and included it in the Surok subscription.
In short. Open @surokvpnbot, tap "📡 Proxy for Telegram" → "Connect proxy" and confirm. Telegram will go through Surok on its own, with no VPN running. It's included in every plan, the free trial too.
What it is
Telegram has built-in support for proxies over its own MTProto protocol. The app opens a special link once and from then on reaches Telegram's servers through the proxy. Nothing to install.
Unlike the free public proxies shared in channels — overloaded, short-lived and often showing a sponsor channel at the top of your chats — ours gives every subscriber their own personal link, with no ads.
How to connect
- Open @surokvpnbot.
- Tap "📡 Proxy for Telegram" in the main menu.
- Tap "Connect proxy" and confirm.
A shield icon appears at the top of Telegram. On a computer, open the same bot there and tap the button again. To turn it off: Settings → Data and Storage → Proxy.
What it does
- Works without a VPN; other apps and sites are unaffected.
- Messages, photos, videos, voice messages and files — everything except calls.
- Disguised: the connection looks like an ordinary secure connection to a website.
- We can't read your chats: Telegram encrypts data before it reaches the proxy.
- Phone and desktop: Android, iPhone, Windows, macOS, Linux.
What it doesn't do
- Calls don't go through a proxy — that's how Telegram works. Use the VPN for calls; see why Telegram calls don't work.
- Telegram only. For YouTube and the rest use the VPN or the YouTube accelerator.
- Mobile networks with allow-lists: the proxy won't connect there; use the VPN's "Europe · auto" profile.
Price
Nothing extra. The proxy is included in every Surok plan, even the simplest one — 1 month, 1 device, 220 ₽ — and in the free trial.
The link is tied to your subscription: it works while the subscription is active, stops when it ends, and the same link works again after you renew. It's personal and sized for your devices, so don't share it — invite a friend with your referral link instead.
